Carousel is an innovative, genre-breaking acoustic quartet based in Wellington, New Zealand. You'll hear echoes of classical, jazz, newgrass, Celtic, tango, and gypsy, but these are mainly frameworks for departure, rather than compositional centres in Carousel's original music.
Carousel consists of cellist Francesca Mountfort, violinist/vocalist Susan Colien-Reid and the father and son team of Peter and Eli Mrkusich on guitar and mandolin. They release their debut self titled album Carousel christmas 2002.
Following the success of the first album, Carousel's unorthodox line-up returns with Bob'n'Spin. Intriguing instrumentation combines cello, violin, mandolin, guitar and vocals in a stunning album influenced by bluegrass, Eastern European and Russian folk music.
